Awards Evening 2012
Left to Right: Mr J Hopkins, the Lady Mayoress, The Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, Mr Gould, Mrs Gould
The evening of Thursday 22nd November 2012 was a very special occasion for Sir Thomas Boughey as many of our 2012 leavers returned to collect their GCSE certificates and other awards. From a stage resplendent with plants and flowers, the Chair of Governors, Mr J Hopkins, began proceedings by welcoming everyone.
Also present at the awards evening were The Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent and the Lady Mayoress who both have our thanks for attending this awards evening. We are especially grateful to The Mayor who stepped in at short notice as our original guest of honour withdrew due to personal circumstances.
The distribution of awards began with recognising excellent attendance; an astounding seventy-two pupils were awarded certificates for 100% attendance for the whole year. A special award went to five pupils; Samuel Cadman, Robert Davies, Joshua Rhodes, Alex Warren and Jack Roberts for the outstanding achievement of 100% attendance throughout their whole five year high school career – a fantastic example of dedication.
Recognition of achievements across the curriculum followed. Pupils in Key Stage Three and Key Stage Four collected awards and prizes in each subject. In total there were thirty Subject Awards handed out to students for outstanding achievements across the curriculum. An additional seven Cross Curricular Awards were handed out to pupils for extraordinary achievements within the school
Sporting achievements were recognised with the presentation of several cups, trophies and medals. There were a number of awards handed out to team captains for their team’s achievements in District and County competitions as well as individual effort in Athletics.
The final round of presentations was for achievement in external examinations in which a total of sixteen awards were handed out to pupils for their progress and achievements in external examinations.
