KMF Young Engineer Competition
For the last few months, pupils from year 10 have been taking part in an after school club in technology where they have been building and programming Lego robots to perform a series of tricky challenges around the theme of interacting with animals and caring for them. The robots were then entered in a final hosted at Staffordshire University last week along with other local schools where they had to perform tasks such as feeding and transporting sharks, milking cows, and looking after a whole range of other livestock and creatures. For each challenge the robot performed successfully the team gained points.
Although we didn’t get into the top three, our team did very well and and were a credit to the school.
Our team: ‘STB Allies’ consisted of Tayela Jarvis-Dale (team captain), Ben Underwood, Harrison Beard, Lucy McManus and April Eardley-Dunn.
In addition to building and programming robots, our students learned a lot about core values and skills such as teamwork, cooperation, communication and problem-solving.
We hope to enter a First Lego League competition in the next academic year with a different year group. More details to follow!
Thanks to KMF and Ryedale Roofing.
