Aspects from our archives and collections about the history of our area

The 'Minnie Pit' in the 1920s

The disaster at the local colliery, the 'Minnie Pit' became a national disaster. Appearing as it did at the end of the 1st World War it devastated a community. Use our resources to find out more about what happened.

Our school was founded around 160 years ago in the village of Halmer End, part of the parish of Audley, Staffordshire. At the time the parish was at the centre of a thriving coal mining industry that contributed to the growing wealth of the Potteries area. Many of these former industries have gone to be replaced by new ones. This collection shows aspects of our areas past.

The village of Halmer end about 1900

Photographs from the past can show how little or how much an area has changed as well as helping to provide an insight into the past. Our collection covers many parts of the parish of Audley
