School History

Sir Thomas Boughey High School is situated in Halmer End, one of the villages that is part of the Audley parish of North Staffordshire. The area was once part of the North Staffordshire Coalfield.
This site brings together some aspects of the history of our area as well as copies of some of the documents and images in our archives. Collections include:

- Minnie Pit Archives
The disaster at the local 'Minnie' Pit in 1918 reached the national press and inspired the poet Wilfred Owen to write his first published poem. find out about the disaster.
