OCR National Certificate Course (equivalent to 2 GCSEs)
This is a practical approach to learning, which consists of units focused on industry relevant tasks, giving a breath of understanding and valuable skills students could use in their further education and future careers.The course is aimed at candidates entering employment at trainee level within a wide range of business environments or progressing to study other business related qualifications.
The course also gives the opportunity to explore current economic and business issues.
This includes: work experience, links with local employers, case studies, research and practical application via schemes such as young enterprise.
Pupils will study up to three units:
- Investigating Business.
- Finance in Business.
- Communication in Business.
All the units will be teacher assessed via a portfolio and externally moderated.
Are there different Levels of entry?
The course has one qualification outcome:
The award is equivalent to two GCSEs when three units are complete. Work is graded on a pass/merit/distinction level and compares to GCSE grades as follows:
- Pass - CC, Merit -BB and Distinction - A/A*
- Pupils who achieve three distinctions over the course may be awarded a GCSE equivalent of A*
