English
English at Sir Thomas Boughey Co-operative Business College is taught to all students, with each year aiming to provide an engaging and useful course from which students develop an enthusiasm and enjoyment in all areas of English.
During years 7, 8 and 9 students follow a Key Stage 3 programme which covers a wide variety of topics in the curriculum including: Non-Fiction, Media, Fiction, Language Study, Poetry, Shakespeare and Drama.
Pupils use these skills and build on them at Key Stage 4 in years 10 and 11 in order to prepare for their final GCSE examination and controlled assessments. Pupils follow the OCR syllabus at GCSE, in which they further develop skills of responding to texts in literature and language both analytically and critically.
Pupils are encouraged throughout their time at Sir Thomas Boughey to gain independence in their learning through their acquisition of knowledge and skills.
Each year the English department presents an award for attainment, effort and development at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
Congratulations to Benjamin Green who has attained the Key Stage 3 award and Olivia Burrows who has attained the Key Stage 4 award.
