A GCSE Course
The course will combine emphasis on foreign communication skills with reward for knowledge, understanding and grammar. The course will cover the following topics:
- Media and culture.
- Sport and leisure.
- Travel and Tourism.
- Business, Work and Employment.
How will the work be assessed?
Controlled Assessments: 60%
Pupils will undertake a number of controlled assessments in writing and speaking. Each skill accounts for 30% of the final grade. Students will be expected to communicate a chosen topic or theme through a written or oral presentation.
Examination: 40%
Listening and Reading papers are taken at the end of the course, each bearing equal weighting.
Are there different levels of entry?
There are two tiers for assessment.
Foundation Tier
Gives pupils the opportunity to gain a grade C to G.
Higher Tier
Preparing those pupils for whom A* to D grades are appropriate.
Pupils may be entered for different tiers of entry within the four skill areas.
