U16 Girls Football Competitions & Results
The u16 girls football team had 2 competitions in 3 days last week.
Quarter Finals of County Cup
STB made the quarter finals of the County Cup and played Erasmus Darwin Academy at home. Despite our best efforts, STB struggled to contain a couple of their players, who dominated play and we lost 4 – 0. The girls had done really well to reach this stage of the competition after a tough round of league matches in the Newcastle and Stoke area, so all credit to the team.
Stoke City 6 a side competition
Following the start of a regular Stoke City coaching session every Friday night, the u16 girls were invited to play at the SCFC Dome in a 6 a side competition against schools from around the district. The coaching session run by Andrew Frost has proven to be very popular and it is hoped that a Stoke City player will be making an appearance in one of the sessions coming up. Our session is the best attended throughout the district and so we took 2 teams to the Dome on Friday March 7th. Although the teams did not qualify for the semi final stages, Zoe Harriman scored the goal of the tournament with a screamer from defence! Hopefully the girls will continue to train and improve together, along with the younger pupils from Years 7 to 9.
